Bill Cody
Bill Cody rejoined WSM-AM 650 after a stint at Nashville 95 WSM-FM. He originally moved from 650 AM to FM-95 in July 1996 from its sister station where he spearheaded the AM Morning Show for two years. His fascination with radio began during his childhood in Lebanon, Kentucky, as the son of a Baptist minister, when he would visit the local station to drop off tapes of that weeks Sunday service. He eventually hung around enough to be “adopted” by the disc jockeys, who taught him the ropes and eventually put the frightened teenager on the air.
Bill made his way to Nashville via Lexington, Kentucky, then San Antonio, Texas, but working for WSM was his life-long dream and that dream was realized in 1994 when he came aboard 650 WSM. Since then Bill has added to his list of accomplishments co-hosting, by co-hosting two nationally syndicated radio shows, the Nashville Record Review with Katie Haas, and Countrys Most Wanted with his Cody and Crew partner, Amie Harper. He also continues to host Sunday Morning Country Classics at 7 - 9 a.m. on 95 WSM-FM.
Since returning to WSM-AM, Bill has become an increasingly popular country music personality. He is often asked to host major concert events like all of the Fruit of the Looms Country Fests, 1996 through 1998. Bill pops up frequently on TNN: The Nashville Network. He has appeared on various feature segments and in celebrity interviews backstage at the TNN Music City News Country Awards. Bill was a guest host on several shows that previously aired on the network including Prime Time Country, Video PM and Voices.
Bill serves as a popular emcee host for Nashvilles music industry events, and is also known nationally and internationally as a voiceover host and talent. As the host of United Airlines “Country Collections Channel,” Bill is heard on airplanes worldwide and the channel is also heard on Air Force One and Air Force Two. In 1999 Bill co-hosted with Bill Engvall and Terri Clark at the first ever televised CMA Preview '99 pay-per-view special. Also for pay-per-view, Bill has hosted specials honoring super group Alabama and country legend Merle Haggard.
Bill is frequently called upon to host nationally syndicated radio specials as well. His voice can be heard as part of Sony Records three-hour Sound Track For a Century of Country radio special. Huntsman Entertainment has taped Bill for many of their syndicated specials, including Asleep At the Wheels Tribute to Bob Wills, Christmas with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Michael Martin Murpheys WestFest, and others featuring artists such as Charlie Daniels, Martina McBride, and Roy Rogers, to name a few.
Bill hopes that “Cody and Crew” will become a household name in the Nashville market. When asked to describe the show that bears his name and personality, Bill muses, “Somewhere between culture and horticulture!”
