Gibson County Lake
Wild Side Photojournalist Barry Cross provides the pretty pictures as we visit a unique lake in west Tennessee. Gibson County Lake is the first lake managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency that will be shared by fishermen, boaters, and swimmers.
It’s a 560 acre, multi-purpose reservoir with 28 miles of shoreline that’s described as a “dream come true” for residents of the area who often have to travel far to fish, boat, or swim. The lake will also help tremendously with lessening the threat of flooding in the area.
TWRA expects Gibson County Lake to attract 50,000 visits a year. A fair number of those will be fishermen eager to go after the thousands and thousands of fish stocked there by TWRA.
You can learn more about the TWRA-managed lakes in our state and about fishing in Tennessee by visiting TWRA’s website at www.tnwildlife.org
While you’re there, make sure to buy your license on-line.
