Sandhill Cranes - Wildlife Action Plan
Imagine 20 thousand skinny-legged, long-winged birds setting up home in your backyard and you might understand the excitement as well as the challenges faced by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and others at the Hiwassee National Wildlife Refuge. A group of Sandhill Cranes has decided that instead of traveling farther south for the winter, it will just stick around and enjoy Tennessee. While the public thrills to the sight, all of us have an opportunity to help protect the Sandhills and many other animals that call Tennessee home through the State Wildlife Action Plan. Wild Side Guide Janet Ivey tells us more in this story.
